The Short Version
SomeYum is built to be light on tracking. We use only strictly-necessary cookies (set by our security/CDN provider), our analytics runs in cookieless mode, and we use no advertising or marketing cookies, no Facebook Pixel, and no device fingerprinting. The web app stores your preferences in your browser's local storage, not in tracking cookies.
This policy explains the details for the SomeYum website (visieasy.com) and web app.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website can place on your device. They can be session (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent (kept for a set time), and first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by another service).
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly-necessary cookies
These are required for the site to load securely and are exempt from consent requirements. They are set by our infrastructure provider:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm, cf_clearance (and similar) |
Cloudflare | Bot mitigation, security, and reliable content delivery | Strictly necessary |
2.2 Analytics - cookieless
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage (which pages are visited, roughly how people arrive). We run it in cookieless mode (client_storage: 'none' with IP anonymization), so it does not set _ga or other analytics cookies on your device. Because no cookies are stored, no prior consent banner is required for analytics under ePrivacy/GDPR.
2.3 No advertising or marketing cookies
We do not use advertising, retargeting, or social-media tracking cookies (including no Facebook/Meta Pixel).
3. Local Storage (not cookies)
The SomeYum web app uses your browser's local storage - not cookies - to remember things like your anonymous guest identifier, saved preferences, and recipe history on your device. This data stays in your browser and is not a cross-site tracking technology. You can clear it via your browser's site-data settings.
4. Third-Party Services
| Service | Role | Their Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Security & content delivery (strictly-necessary cookies) | View |
| Google Analytics | Cookieless website analytics | View |
5. How to Control Cookies & Storage
Because we don't set non-essential cookies, there's nothing to "reject" beyond the strictly-necessary security cookies. You can still:
- View, block, or delete cookies in your browser settings
- Clear the web app's local storage via your browser's site-data settings
- Use the in-app "Start Fresh" option to erase your stored preferences
Browser cookie instructions: Chrome · Safari · Firefox · Edge
Note: blocking the strictly-necessary cookies may prevent the site from loading correctly.
6. Mobile App
The SomeYum mobile app does not use web cookies. It stores settings locally on your device and uses analytics/diagnostics as described in our Privacy Policy. You can control notifications and tracking through your device's system settings.
7. Do Not Track
There is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" signals. Since we don't set tracking cookies, there is nothing additional to honor - your browsing is not tracked across sites.
8. Children
Our services are not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum digital-consent age where you live). We do not knowingly use cookies to collect data from children.
9. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We'll change the "Last Updated" date above.
